Zebra Crossings Lichfield Road And Chester Road

tumblr_mywmpkXGkW1qib2vgo2_1280

This is the continuing information I have regarding these:

Good morning Councillor,
Lichfield Road, Brownhills was ranked for the suitability of a crossing in 2006 at the request of Councillor Paul. It remains in our crossing request database and is currently ranked 4th. Therefore Lichfield Street would not qualify for a crossing at this time. The VASS signs are due to return to that location on 24th October 2016 as a part of the VASS programme.
With regards to the crossing request on Chester Road Shire Oak. I will liaise with a colleague once he returns from a residential course next week. I do not have full historical knowledge of the location and I will require clarification once he returns to the office next week.
With regards to VASS signs in this location near Knaves Court. I have assessed our speed data for this location in conjunction with the VASS deployment procedure, and the location does not currently qualify for the VASS programme.
Yours sincerely

A5 Road Works

p10505501

For those who don’t know, there will be a few road closures over he coming weeks in Brownhills with the continuing works. Thankfully, I think we are nearing the end of these works. I also still await a full reponse from Highways England to my letter of complaint some weeks ago!

Dear Councillor Wade
Further to my email below I would advise that the provisional traffic management programme for works on the A5 Churchbridge to Brownhills cycle scheme.

Tuesday 31 May 2016. Wilkin Road closed 2000 – 0600. NB diversion via A5 and Hednesford Road. SB diversion via Hednesford Road, A5, The Parade and A452 Chester Road North.

Please bear in mind that the details are above are subject to change and weather conditions. At the current time I am not aware of any closures other than those detailed above.

Ravens Court Again

Well, once again, the eyesore we know as Raven’s Court has been left unsecured with fly tipping back. I took these pictures on Sunday. I have sent them to our Planning and Environmental teams for enforcement. We must have a renewed push to bring these owners to the table with proposals that will finally regenerate this shocking eyesore.

The owners are supposed to be keep this secure so no-one can get in. I have asked the council to secure it again and bill the owners and asked about the Section 215 enforcement! Not on, but unfortunately, the owners have no attachment to Brownhills and there in lies the problem. They don’t live here, they don’t see the eyesore, they don’t see how it brings our High Street down.

Northfields Way Blockade: Some background

Untitled 9I was in Clayhanger yesterday leafleting, and quite a few residents asked me who helped get the Traffic Regulation Order and potential road closure on Northfield Way. I stated that I’d been trying to get something sorted for the area for nearly a year, culminating in the potential TRO.

So for the AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, I will now publish some of the many e-mails between myself and council officers/Area Partnership Manager and the dates!

(For more historic emails on this topic, see my Facebook page here)

Good Morning Councillor,
Apologies for the delay I have been on annual leave.
Northfield Way;
We are working with the police and our community safety team to provide a permanent solution to the issues in this location, this has progressed and myself and PC have pulled together a case history to support the development of a public space protection order in this location. I am meeting Karen to discuss how this order has progressed while I have been on leave. We will need to undertake community consultation and a series of statutory actions prior to the outcome being established but this is very much underway now. It would be the intention to consider closing the road from the point at which it turns in to the estate.
With reference to the drug dealing issues that have been raised, I am aware that active patrols in this location continue as part of the daily neighbourhood policing for the Brownhills team.
Land ownership is varied within the location and we have, as part of the order, pulled the land registry information regarding this location. Some Land is council, other sections are private. Are there any issues with the horses? We haven’t had any information in to suggest there are problems there but very much welcome any detail you may have should this be an issue.
Catshill TARA
We can provide the residents with the details to report ASB, is there a lead contact we can coordinate this through? We can also arrange for signage to ask people not to loiter, I have asked for this via Dave. As soon as they’re up I will let you know. Parks across the borough are no longer locked, this does indeed form part of the austerity measures, is there a pattern to the issues in this location? Specific times / days for example?.
With reference to dog fouling I will get some stickers re-issued and will see if there is an opportunity to utilise a larger column sign in the short term to deter people from doing this. We have some dog fouling clean up bags available and I will link in with parks to see if there is an opportunity to converse with users of the park and surrounding area and issue them with some bags in the first instance.
Have you received anything back from the transport team regarding the 20mph suggestion? Is the area currently governed by a 20 zone?.
Cherwell Drive Park
We have raised this issue again in the area tasking meeting, there have been no reports at all from residents. We can only start to form a picture once this is reported in, if you can let me have details – addresses for the complainants that are raising this we can arrange a letter drop to support them in reporting effectively so that we can get a full picture around this location. Keen to get a through picture around this location so that we can start to address the local community concerns.

Housing Issues, Brownhills

128841976

BATHROOM FOR ELDERLY RESIDENT: I’m sill battling to get a bathroom done for an elderly resident in Brownhills. Social landlord has agreed to have a look this week.
DOOR FOR RESIDENT: Still trying to get a door for a resident in Silver Court. Will keep going.
VALLEY VIEW: have a radiator and a security light problem here so will look at these over the weekend.
FIRE DOORS: WILKIN ROAD: On my rounds a few weeks back was advised by a resident that fire doors in the little flats hadn’t been installed as promised. Chasing this at the moment with the social landlord.

Rubbish Under Miner Island

This is the latest e-mail regarding sorting a clean up under the Island. The owners of the land still insist they are not responsible for the rubbish, but have agreed to a ‘one off’ clean. At least we can sort it once and for all and hopefully put up some netting to stop any future rubbish being thrown down there.

This one is still developing, so please watch for further updates.

Dear Councillor Wade

Many thanks for the email.

Railway Paths Ltd (RPL) has not been able to accept that the litter problem is theirs to resolve. This is because RPL has been advised that the litter (which emanates from the highway on Walsall Council land), constitutes a nuisance. RPL’s legal advice is that under Tort, a landowner allowing a nuisance to escape from their land (in this case litter) is liable for any damage caused to the neighbouring land by that nuisance.

However, RPL is willing to allow the Town Partnerships team to organise a one-off litter clearance, undertaken by volunteers.

If you think this is something the town Partnerships team would be willing and able to run please let me know and I would be pleased to meet them to discuss arrangements.

Brownhills West Bins – Result!

Looks like we may finally be getting a solution. This was the e-mail I sent and I’ve now had a response from the social landlord.

Hiya Danielle & Cllr Wade

Once again: Bins in Brownhills West!! This is becoming quite ridiculous, the bins are constantly overflowing with rubbish which is then scattered all over the estate. (I have attached some photographs) If these bins need to be emptied more than once a week, can this not be scheduled??? I have sent these to our environmental health department and asked for their views, as this seems a constant hazard.

– A task has been raised for the bins and the area to be cleared up – we will need to get this put on to a rota to prevent this from re-occurring.

Tamworth Close Refuse Update

This was the response I received from the CEO regarding this part of Brownhills. We will get this sorted.

Dear Cllr Wade

Thank you very much for your email and for taking the time to contact me.

I was sorry to see your photographs as I had hoped that the intensive work that we and your colleagues had been doing in the area would have had some impact on the problem of littering at Tamworth Close. Certainly when I have visited the scheme in the past Iittering has been a very obvious and entrenched problem.

We are in the process of setting up a dedicated Place team within our housing directorate to look at how we can deal with problems such as this-I will ask my colleagues in our housing team to get in touch with you and Laura Terry to discuss what further steps we can take to deal with this.

Best wishes

Brownhills West Bins Again

13055211_230295877329454_4634003539776674785_o

My bin obsession continues, but I can’t believe that our social landlords in Walsall allow this to happen, both here and Tamworth Close.

These were the bins today. Not on!! Have once again requested a prompt response. If not, environmental health it is. If these were council bins, we’d get hammered! No different for the social landlords. Just not good enough.
